Ad Detector

一、Function Overview

The Ad Detector is a feature module under "Advanced Features" in the TopOn developer backend. It is used to save screenshots of ad creatives and corresponding ad link information to the platform, making it easy for developers to query the displayed ad creatives afterward through multi-dimensional filtering or image search.

Material collection and display

Displays a list of collected advertising creatives, and allows you to view the advertising and device information corresponding to each record.

Image search

Upload an image, and the system will use image feature matching to return the most similar collected materials and their corresponding advertising and device information.

Upload process overview

  1. Developers retrieve screenshots in the ad display callback, and then call the creative reporting API to report the creative screenshots to the server for storage and display;
  2. Developers can browse the list of creative materials by filtering them from multiple dimensions on the ad detector page, or upload customer complaint images through the "image search" entry to match and locate the source of problematic creative materials.

2.3 Image search function

Image search is used to quickly match the most similar content from the platform's existing content library when a customer complaint screenshot or a photo taken with a mobile phone is available, thereby locating the advertising platform, ad source, and device. The matching algorithm has a certain tolerance for screenshot cropping, resolution differences, and moiré patterns and angle shifts introduced by mobile phone photography. However, to ensure a high success rate, it is recommended to take photos according to the following requirements:

  1. Fill the entire frame with the content you want to search for when taking a photo.
  2. Minimize reflections.
  3. Use the highest possible resolution.

2.3.1 Enter the image search portal

To access the image search entry, click the "Image Search" button in the upper right corner of the ad detector's main page. This will open the image upload interface as a pop-up window/subpage.

2.3.2 Upload image to be matched

Select a local image in the upload area, or drag and drop the image into the upload box. Supported formats are JPG/PNG, and each image must not exceed 5MB in size. Both system screenshots and photos taken with a mobile phone are supported.

2.3.3 View matching results

Once the matching is complete, you will be returned to the results page. The results page will automatically clear other filters from the main page, displaying only materials relevant to this search:

  •        All materials with a 100% match (i.e., screenshots that are highly identical to the uploaded image).
  •        If insufficient, similar materials with a less than 100% match will be added, and the top 3-5 candidate screenshots with the highest match will be returned overall.

The results are displayed in a list format, with fields identical to those in the "Material Collection and Display" data list, including thumbnails, advertising platforms, advertising sources, device IDs, and various timestamps. Clicking on a thumbnail will also allow you to view screenshot details.

2.3.4 Frequently Asked Questions

Question

Explanation / Handling Suggestions

Image upload error message: File too large

Please check if the image exceeds 5MB. You can use a screenshot tool or compress the image before uploading.

Image upload prompts that the format is not supported.

Currently only JPG/PNG formats are supported. Please convert the format first.

Search results are empty or have generally low matching accuracy.

Possible reasons: (1) The material was not collected (the corresponding application/ad platform/ad style did not enable monitoring); (2) The material storage period has expired; (3) The customer complaint image is too different from the original display image (e.g., secondary editing, excessive cropping).

The same image returns multiple 100% matching records.

This is normal – the material was displayed multiple times on different devices/at different times, and each display record was kept independently, which can be used to further locate the specific device.
